CE 428 is the fourth undergraduate CE Lab, and is a continuation of the third lab. Students are expected to have completed Unit Ops I and II as well as Kinetics and Reactor Design. The lab will start with a mock experiment and then proceed through a set of 3 experiments. The links from the home page lead to descriptions of the experiments. All experiments will be performed in 107 Furnas. There is a Monday recitation from 4:00 to 4:50 in 14 Knox; class will not meet every week at this time - check the schedule for regular meetings as well as the home page announcement box for unscheduled meetings.

Safety is the most important aspect of any lab course. Prior to conducting an experiment the group leader will be given a pre-lab quiz; part of this quiz will focus upon safety issues associated with the experiment to be conducted. In addition, severe grade penalties will be administered for safety infractions while conducting the lab.

Wear safety glasses at all times in the lab, for the bubble cap experiment you may wish to wear ear plugs as well.

There are additional links in the general section describing grading policy, giving rules for working in the lab, listing lab groups and group leaders for each experiment, and giving the course schedule. To learn how the lab will be run start with the pre-lab page and then continue reading through the lab and post-lab pages. These links appear just under the buttons on all pages in the general section of the web site.

There are no required textbooks for the course.
