09/10/09 - Clarification of homework submission deadline:

The current situation: Homework is due at the start of class. This is important, because it allows us to go over the HW solutions in class, when there is interest in doing so. For the first homework, many people came in late with their homework or handed it in at the end of class. One person asked to turn it in later in the day, and I said no, because the solutions were already posted and it would not be fair to others. I found another HW under my door this morning, which must have arrived sometime after 5:30 p.m. Not having allowed other late submissions, I will not give credit for that one. Thus, I think that I did not fully make it clear that the HW was due at the start of class, and a clearer policy is needed. Here it is:

Beginning with homework 2, submissions received (on the table at the front of the classroom) by 2:05 p.m. on the due date will receive full credit. Beginning at 2:05 p.m., additional submissions will be marked with the submission time. These later submissions will be graded, but credit granted will decrease linearly by 2% per minute. Thus, submissions presented at 2:55 p.m. or later will receive no credit.

08/26/09 - If you found this page before classes have even started - congratulations!  Our first class will be Monday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. in room 97 of Alumni Arena. See you there!
